I moved both plants to the greenhouse 2-3 weeks ago or so and transferred them to their final pots. Here is a pic of the Blueberry plant, which is around 10 days older than the other one and was put outside around 3 weeks ago:
And here is a pic of the Northern Lights that I put outside a little over a week ago:
They are definitely stretching since I moved them outside but that’s okay because they have plenty of space to grow. It hasn’t been super sunny lately so I’m sure they’re getting less light than they’re used to inside. Otherwise seems like both plants have adjusted very well to the move and are growing great! Each one has around 9 tops, I have topped each of them twice now.
I did a lot less LST with these two than I did with the one I just harvested because it didn’t seem super necessary to me for outdoor growing, will be interested to see how that effects the outcome though.
I know it’s been a while! I’ve been pretty lazy about updating. Last night I finally chopped her down! Now the buds just have to hang to dry for a few days or so and then I will begin the curing process. I feel like I got a pretty good yield, guessing somewhere in the 3-5 oz range but we’ll see, have to wait til they’re dry to weigh them. I’ll definitely do an update once I know.
When I harvested the trichomes were still mostly cloudy but I didn’t want to wait any longer because I’d been flushing with just water and no nutrients for two weeks and this thing had been flowing for nearly 3 months. Here are some pics taken yesterday morning before I harvested:
I dried out a little nug in my vaporizer then smoked it and…it works! Haha, not going to do that again because the smoke was still very harsh but wanted to give it a try. I’m not good at describing how I feel when I’m stoned but I think it’s a good high, am interested to see what my friends and family think though. Here is a close up of one of the buds I took while I was trimming:
Speaking of trimming, wasn’t 100% sure if I was doing that right, haha. I mean I read about it but it’s hard to just get the sugar leaves without cutting some bud too, it look me like 6 or 7 hours to harvest. I did get a lot of trim though I think, I also accidentally cut off some of the buds while trimming, oops. Here’s a pic that shows the trim and extra buds:
Dont mind the room, we’re in the process of renovating.
I think I’m feeling motivated enough to do an update on the other two I have vegging so stayed tuned!
So it is day 30 for the Blueberry plant shown above. Seems to be growing at around the same rate as my first plant so that’s good. So far she seems very healthy. I re-potted her a couple weekends ago and the roots looked good. I did top her for the first time a few days ago and she is recovering well from that. I will start LST pretty soon.
The Northern Lights (shown above) is on day 21 and clearly not doing so well, which is 100% my fault. I noticed she was pretty dry on Friday and meant to water her and put her in a new pot on Saturday but my weekend was really hectic and I just didn’t have time. The bottom two leaves and now pretty yellow and she is pretty droopy. I gave her some water with low dosage nutrients this morning before work, hopefully she recovers just fine! I also re-potted her a little around a half hour ago though based on what I saw of the roots it appears I could have waited a bit longer on that, oh well.
Unfortunately the weather here is still too cold to move them to the greenhouse. Thinking I will be able to finally bring them outside in the last week of May. I am going to start acclimating them to the change during the warmer daytime hours as soon as we have temps steadily in the mid 60s or higher though.
Long time no post! It has been around 6.5 weeks since I switched to 12/12 now, not really sure how much longer I have but I am guessing around 3 weeks? The trichomes are looking cloudy but not really seeing any amber yet. The buds have been slowly filling out over the last few weeks, I don’t really notice the growth because it’s pretty slow. Have had some minor nutrient burn so I’ve started giving nutrients every other water instead of every time I water.
The pic above was taken in the dark with flash because I read that makes the buds easier to see. Here’s another pic with just the CFL lighting:
And here are a couple close ups of the buds taken through my loupe:
Will do an update on my newer plants soon but they are doing well so far!
So as you can see one of my seeds had an issue. Both seeds sprouted around 3 days after being planted however the Northern Lights lost one of its cotyledons because it got stuck in the seed and then ripped off as it continued sprouting, bummer. I planted a new one yesterday so hopefully this one has better luck! The blueberry seedling is doing well though, working on its second set of leaves. I have 4 40w CFLs over it now. Once it starts to get a little nicer out I will start exposing them to the outdoors for part of the day so they don’t go into shock when I move them out there full time.
Haven’t been updating as frequently as not much has been going on other than very slow bud growth. She is definitely focusing all of her energy on the buds and doesn’t seem to be growing much anywhere but the buds that I am noticing. Everything seems to be going well though. I got my magnifying lense in the mail today so I took a few close ups. Here is one without the LED light:
As you can see by the title today marks the first day of my second grow! I was on the fence about when to get them started since I don’t have a great setup inside for them to start vegging but the weather here is getting springier and we finished setting up the greenhouse today so hopefully I will be able to move them outside before they veg too long! I had some seeds left over so I decided to grow one Northern Lights (this is the strain I am currently in process with from grow 1) and 1 Blueberry that I had gotten as a free seed. I may end up getting some autoflowers to grow over the summer as well but not sure if I will have the space as my boyfriend wants to grow lots of other stuff in the greenhouse, we’ll see! Until they go outside I am just going to give them 18 hours a day of CFL light. I plan to have 4 true 40w CFLs per plant, just have two for now since they haven’t even germinated. I am using left over premixed coco/perlite but when they are repotted I am going to mix it myself to save a little money. I bought 20 inch planters as what I intend to be their final pots, they look to be around 7-8 gallon pots. This will be an experiment, they may not make it since I am not experienced growing outdoors and there is a lot less control outdoors so we will just have to see how it goes!
Just a quick little update – the trichomes started to be clearly visible a few days ago so I just wanted to share a couple close ups!
Some solid flowering progress over the last few days, seems like the stretching period is slowing down a lot over the last couple days so hoping that means the plant is focussing all it’s energy on flowering. Here are a couple pics with the LEDs on they better show the bud sites:
Looking forward to harvesting, I know I still have like 6 or 7 weeks left though! I wonder how much I will end up getting.
Have been thinking about my next grow. We were actually recently gifted a 10×10 greenhouse that we plan to set up in the upcoming weeks so my next grow will be in there! Will be interesting to see the differences from indoor growing. Not sure how many plants I am gonna do yet as we are planting a bunch of other stuff in there as well. I figure I should take advantage of the free lighting and plant like 4 or 5 at least, I have 5 seeds left so maybe I will just do them all.
She has been showing clear signs of starting to flower for the last few days so that is exciting. Growth has definitely been more vertical lately, it seems like leaf growth has pretty much stopped as the plant is focusing it’s energy on flowering. Not much else to say. Here is an up close photo:
